Yunohana

Tabi no Yado Yunohana (旅の宿 湯の華) sits in Shimoda Onsen on the west coast of Amakusa, where the rooms look out toward the East China Sea. The spring water runs unheated and undiluted into the baths (kakenagashi, 掛け流し), coming out clear and odorless, and is clean enough to drink. A private bath is available on request. The inn's kitchen leans on the day's catch from local waters, and the dinner spreads lean heavily seafood. Shimoda Onsen itself has roughly 800 years of history, and the ryokan has the lived-in feel to match.
