Arayu Jigoku Onsen Arayu Jigoku-no-yu

A wild mixed bath in a volcanic landscape where sulfurous springs bubble up from the earth, the steam and hydrogen sulfide gas are real enough that visitors are advised to take care. The setting is raw and dramatic, with hot springs gushing among white gravel and autumn foliage creeping in at the edges. Worth the effort to reach, but go carefully and stay aware of the gas.
