HOTEL MARUICHI is a small, family-run hotel in central Hitoyoshi, sitting inside the Hitoyoshi Onsen area though its own bathrooms aren't hot-spring water. Most rooms have their own compact bath and toilet; a handful of upper-floor singles share a bathroom on the 4th floor instead, roomy enough for two, that locks from inside and needs no booking. For an actual soak, the hotel's own website just points guests toward the nearby Hitoyoshi Onsen bathhouses. It's a plain, room-only stay: no restaurant, no elevator (stairs to all floors), but reviewers keep mentioning how clean it is and how kind the proprietress is. The Yamada River runs right past the front door.
