About

Southern Cross Resort is a golf resort hotel on a hilltop above Ito, with views toward Mount Fuji, the Amagi mountains, and Sagami Bay. The indoor baths, separate for men and women, are built of hinoki cypress with big windows that let in natural light, and several room types add a private hinoki tub filled with the same onsen water. The water itself is colorless and light on the skin, the kind of gentle spring that works for kids and older guests alike; the resort calls it itawari no yu (いたわりの湯), a caring water. The spring is said to date back to the Heian period, and the resort notes it was once presented to the shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu in the Edo era.
