A small tatami ryokan in the Shimoda Onsen (下田温泉, Shimoda Onsen) area of Amakusa, Kumamoto. The large indoor bath runs on kakenagashi spring water, meaning the water flows straight from the source without recirculation. It comes out clear and feels light and smooth after a soak. The spring has been known as a healing bath in this area for centuries. Rooms look out over the nearby river.
