Tsukisamu Onsen is a four-floor day-use bathhouse in Sapporo's Toyohira Ward, built around a natural mool onsen, a brownish spring fed by organic matter in the ground. The source bath is fed straight from the spring, and locals call the water a 'beauty bath' for how smooth it leaves the skin. Bathing options spread through the building: a cypress-scented tub, two rock rotenburo (one roofed, so rain or snow doesn't stop you), a reclining bath, a big sunlit tub, and a pair of well-water cold plunges kept at two different temperatures. Men's and women's sides each get a high-heat and a low-heat sauna, and a paid ganbanyoku room adds a gentler, lie-down option. The rotenburo sit on the top floor, so after dark the soak comes with the city lights below. A restaurant, massage salon and rest areas round it out, built more for a whole afternoon than a quick stop.
