A small Meiji-era ryokan in Owani Onsen, Aomori, registered as a national tangible cultural property. The indoor bath, 'Roman no Izumi (浪漫の泉)', runs on kakenagashi (源泉かけ流し) spring water, clear and mild, and was rebuilt to evoke the Taisho-era look of its early years. Novelist Dazai Osamu (太宰治) came here as a high schooler in 1929 for a restorative soak. Bathing is for overnight guests only.
