About

Kyukamura Shikotsuko is a national vacation-village hotel set in the forest above Lake Shikotsu in Hokkaido. The bath is simple, one indoor bathing room with a sauna, no outdoor bath and no cold plunge, and a small washing area. The water itself is the draw: smooth and almost silky on the skin, known locally as bihada no yu (美肌の湯), skin-softening water. Day-use bathing is available for a few afternoon hours, though visitors need to bring their own towel. The restaurant is for overnight guests only, so a day trip here is really just for the bath.
