Earned this one in real life?
Send your stamp book, certificate, or other proof, and we'll add this badge to your passport.
The Meijin tier of the egg pilgrimage: Onsen Tamago-do Meijin (おんせんたまご道名人), the top-rank certification in the Onsen Tamago-do collaboration. Earning it requires doubling the Shodan egg-purchase count and completing a full Beppu Hatto Onsen-do Meijin circuit on the bath side.
How to earn
This badge is awarded by Onsen Oni moderators to users who have earned the Tamago-do Meijin certification. Send evidence (certificate, towel photo, or stamp record) through the feedback channel. Each new edition of the campaign restarts the cycle (a second one started with the 2025-2026 guidebook and runs to 30 November 2026), so this badge is repeatable: the number on your tile tracks how many times you've earned Meijin rank.
The shops that hand out the egg stamps are listed on the Onsen Tamago-do badge page.
Meijin requirements (second edition)
- 8 egg-purchase stamps, from eight different shops out of the eighteen
- 88 bath-entry stamps on a spa passport not yet submitted for Meijin (an Onsen Hunter record counts only if its first circuit is unclaimed)
- ¥3,000 certification fee
- No cap: everyone who applies is certified, unlike the rank tier below it
- Awarded the yellow Meijin towel, embroidered in black with 別府八湯温泉道名人
The window is the campaign's own: 25 November 2025 to 30 November 2026. Egg stamps must sit on the Onsen Tamago card bound into the 2025-2026 guidebook, and a card from the previous edition cannot be carried over.
