An alkaline simple thermal spring at around pH 9, classified as hypotonic and high-temperature. The water is almost colorless, transparent, tasteless and odorless, with the slippery feel of Japan's beauty-water family. A generous 76.8 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother, and the certificate lists general indications such as chronic skin conditions and recovery from fatigue.

About

Kona Stay Izu Nagaoka sits in Kona Onsen (古奈温泉), a spring area with roots going back to the Kamakura period. The indoor baths, a large communal bath and a smaller one, run on a gender-rotation schedule and use kakenagashi spring water that feels smooth on the skin. There is no on-site restaurant, which fits the hotel's deliberate eat-out-and-explore approach, though a lounge and coworking space fill the communal areas. Day use is available in the early afternoon.

252. Kona Stay Izu Nagaoka, Izunokuni Visited for higaeri at 1000 (listed hours 12:00–17:00). The baths apparently rotate, but the higaeri slot always has just one. Water composition charts are translated into English. They stamp the 60 Onsen of Shizuoka 24/25 booklet. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature 41.5–42. Comfortable to breathe inside. While I was in the bath, a staff member came in, checked the water temperature, and adjusted some valves in the bushes. Probably worth stopping by if you're passing through, but definitely not worth a special trip.
