The open-air bath here hangs over the Kinugawa (鬼怒川) gorge, with the river running below. There is also an indoor communal bath, private reserved baths (kashikiri, 貸切風呂) bookable by the slot, and select rooms with their own in-room onsen, some facing the river. The water is a mild alkaline spring, clear and smooth on the skin. The ryokan runs small and quiet, and the okami (女将, inn mistress) makes a point of greeting guests personally at dinner.
