Classification

Sodium Chloride spring

A sodium chloride strong-salt spring, exceeding ocean salinity and leaving a thick mineral veil on the skin after the bath. The wellhead runs at 100.4 °C — among Japan's hottest natural sources, cooled before bathing — and the water reads colorless and clear at the source, faintly turbid and off-white in the lab, with a pronounced salty tang and no odor. Neutral pH belies a heavily mineralized brine: total dissolved solids reach 34,240 mg/kg, and an unusually generous 587.6 mg/kg of metasilicic acid layers a thin silica film over the salt, lending the water a smoother finish than the headline chemistry would suggest.

Infinity rotenburo with a view of Kagoshima Bay for 1500 yen, open from 9:30 to 19:30, closed on Thursdays. The water is salty, cloudy, white with a slight smell, 42.6°C. The website states it's diluted kakenagashi from an 87°C source. There's one individual barrel bath (40.8°C) and a mizuburo (18.0°C). The men's and women's sides swap by day. On even-numbered days the western bath is for men. According to the staff, the only difference is the view — the eastern bath overlooks the bay, while the western one faces the open sea.
