A hot (67.8 °C) blended sulfur-bearing sodium sulfate-chloride-bicarbonate spring drawing from Naruko's #2 and #3 wells. Mildly alkaline yet sulfide-rich — the characteristic rotten-egg note of H₂S sits over a moderately mineralized body (1,910 mg/kg). One of Japan's hotter natural sources, mixed before delivery to the bathhouse.

About

Naruko Hotel has been drawing bathers since 1873, and its three private springs feed the baths in a continuous fresh flow (kakenagashi). The water carries a gentle sulfur scent and a silky feel, and its color shifts through the day and with the weather, ranging from clear to milky white to a faint green. Two main bath wings, Basho-no-yu (芭蕉の湯) and Tama-no-yu (玉の湯), rotate between men and women morning and evening, so guests can experience both. The outdoor baths look out over the Naruko mountains. A large private bath, Kokeshi-no-yu (木華子の湯), is also available by reservation.

224. Naruko Hotel, Naruko Onsen Visited on higaeri for 5 stickers on the local tegate (listed from 11:00 to 15:00). Inside, a huge bath with white water, lots of lime deposits, temperature 40. Breathing inside is fine. Outside, a bath with a small view of bamboo. Water is also white with lime deposits, temperature 40. Very impressive due to the size of the indoor bath and the water. Recommended to visit.
