Hotel Aile

Spring chemistry and what it does, with the research behind it.

BicarbonateSodium Bicarbonate-Chloride spring · +含食塩重曹泉

A sodium-led bicarbonate spring, posted under its older classification name meaning "soda water containing common salt" — jūsō-sen in the traditional vocabulary. The bicarbonate gives the soft, smooth feel that places it in Japan's beauty-water family, while chloride, running to a little over 40 percent of the anion balance, adds a salty edge that helps warmth linger on the skin. Moderately mineralized rather than sharp, and the posted indications track the chemistry: chronic skin conditions, wounds and burns, alongside neuralgia and chronic rheumatoid arthritis.

Good for

Smooth skin

Bicarbonate and alkalinity gently lift dead keratin while silica hydrates, leaving skin smooth. This is the basis of the beautifying-water (bijin-no-yu 美人の湯) reputation.

dry, rough skin

Recovery

Warmth and buoyancy lower stress markers and improve sleep; habitual bathing is linked to lower rates of depression.

fatigue, stress
