About

Manzatei sits in the mountains at Manza Onsen and runs its baths on free-flowing spring water. The water is milky white with a faint sulfur scent, notably gentler on the skin than the famously sharp Kusatsu springs nearby. Outdoors there are log-style rotenburo for men and women separately, and a separate annex rotenburo open as mixed bathing late at night. Private reserved baths, Sasa-no-yu (笹の湯) and Shirakaba-no-yu (白樺の湯), are available for couples or families wanting the water to themselves. A sauna rounds out the bathing options. The old wooden building has a quiet, unhurried feel, with a reading room and bar off the lobby for winding down after a soak.

810. Manza Tei Hotel, Manza Onsen, Gunma ★★ I visited for a higaeri. With the Manza tegata, it was ¥500, the regular price is ¥1,300. Higaeri is listed as 11:30~18:00, with the last entry at 17:00 on normal days, or at 14:00/15:00 on busy days and the day before holidays. 1. Outdoor shallow bath. View of the mountains and the parking lot. The water is cloudy white-blue, temperature 44. 2. Indoor bath. The water is clear turquoise. Temperature 42-43. Another great place in Manza. The interior is in fairly fresh condition. Recommended for a visit. 15.01.2026
