Fukudaya

Fukudaya sits in Unzen's onsen town, split between a main building and a smaller annex called Yama Terrace. The main building's baths, an indoor pool and a panorama open-air bath, swap between men and women each morning and evening, and there's a cedar-and-brick sauna plus both a hot and a cooler pool. Two of the private baths can be reserved in advance, even by guests who aren't staying the night. Over in the annex, every room has its own open-air bath filled with the same milky white spring water, kept flowing straight from the source, so it's ready whenever you want it. Rooms on the quieter side look out toward the mountains around Unzen.
