A blended source: the waters of Mearai-no-yu and Ganisawa-no-yu are combined before they reach the bath. Chemically it is a sodium-calcium sulfate spring with a chloride edge — neutral, hypotonic, and moderately mineralized at 1,090 mg/kg, so it carries noticeable body without any sharpness. Metasilicic acid runs to 129.3 mg/kg, which places it in Japan's beauty-water family and leaves the kind of thin silica film that makes skin feel smoother afterwards. Worth noting that the certificate was sampled at the bath inlet of the sixth public bath rather than at the wellhead.
