Matsuba-no-yu is one of 13 free communal baths (sotoyu, 外湯) that Nozawa Onsen village runs for locals and visitors. The bathing area sits on the second floor of a two-story building, with separate indoor baths for men and women. The water is sulfurous, drawn from the village's shared spring system. Entry is free, with a donation box inside.
