A blended tank source combining four wells (No. 27 to 30) at Kinosaki Onsen in Toyooka. It is a sodium-calcium chloride spring — salty and heat-retaining, the kind of water that holds warmth well after the bath. Emerging hot at 58.4 °C and moderately mineralized at about 4.0 g/kg of dissolved solids, it has noticeable body on the skin.

Ichinoyu is one of the seven soto-yu, the public bathhouses that make up Kinosaki Onsen's town-wide bathing circuit. Alongside a regular indoor bath, it has a rotenburo built into a rock cave, its signature feature among the seven. The spring water has a distinct salty taste, and there's a spot out front where you can drink it straight from the source. The bathhouse was originally known in the Edo period as Arayu (新湯), the "new spring." After the physician Kagawa Shutoku (香川修徳) praised it in his medical writings as the finest hot spring in the land, it was renamed Ichinoyu, "the number one bath," in honor of that verdict.

Onsen. Water is clear, light smell. Indoor bath is hot and has a vibro zone. Outdoor bath has medium temperature, quite cozy. Lots of people come here - it's in a busy location. Included in the hotel pass or in the 1,500 yen pass. Small towel 200 yen, large towel rental 300 yen per day (can be returned at any Kinosaki onsen). It's supposedly a top Kinosaki onsen, but it didn't really impress me. If you're not trying to visit all Kinosaki baths, you can skip this one in my opinion.
