414. Iyashi no Sato Kiyashiki, Kurokawa Onsen ★★ Visited for a day trip. Located away from the center of Kurokawa. Day trips are usually available from 13:00 to 18:00 (Wed-Sat) and from 11:00 to 18:00 (Sun-Tue), with occasional days off during the week. It is part of the Kurokawa tegata (discount pass). For overnight guests, there are two semi-open private baths. The ryokan provides its own branded towels. In all baths, the water is clear with pieces of white lime, sometimes large. 1. Indoor bath, temperature around 43°C. Comfortable to breathe inside. 2. Outdoor round bath, temperature around 43°C. 3. Outdoor square standing bath, temperature around 42°C. 4. Large outdoor bath, temperature around 40-41°C. View of the trees. A decent rotenburo (outdoor bath) with added options of standing and round baths. Worth visiting on the way; making a special detour to this onsen is not very practical given the competition in the village. 13.01.2025

Higaeri is available. Located far from central Kurokawa; I stopped by on my way to Yamamizuki. There's an indoor bath with a shower (strange smell in there) and beyond that, three different rotenburo in one space - two small ones (wooden and deep) and one large. They're all decent enough, but the view is mostly fence and tall trees. A questionable option. Not worth trekking 15 minutes specifically for it, but if you're passing by in that direction and have time, you can pop in.
