About

This resort hotel stands on a hillside above the town, with an indoor bath and a rotenburo that looks out over Gero's rooftops toward the surrounding hills and forest, plus a small sauna room that only fits a handful of people at a time. Bathers often mention how smooth the water leaves their skin. It's a big buffet-dining hotel, popular with families and groups, so the outdoor bath faces the town rather than deep nature.

58. Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Gero Honkan, Gero Onsen, Gifu ★ In April 2024, it had a different owner and name, Yukai Resort Gero Saichoraku Honkan. In 2026, I already visited it under the new name as part of the Ooedo chain. The condition of the baths in 2026 seemed a bit worse than it was in 2024. I went for a higaeri with the Gero tegata. After the move to Ooedo, the regular price is 900 on weekdays, 1200 on weekends, and 1400 on busy days. Higaeri is listed as 07:00 to 10:00 + 15:00 to 24:00 (last entry at 22:00) with regular payment, and 15:00 to 21:00 when entering with the tegata. The bath photos online are accurate. 1. Open-air bath. There is a small balcony with a fence and frosted glass in front of the bath. The view of the city from the balcony is great, especially in the dark part of the day. But because the view is through the balcony with frosted glass, and the balcony is higher than the bath, you cannot really see much from the bath itself, so you need to go to the balcony for the view. The water is clear, temperature 42. 2. Indoor bath. There is a view of the city through the glass, but if the glass fogs up a lot, you will not be able to see anything. The water is clear, temperature 42.5. Breathing inside is fine. In 2024, the place impressed me more, in 2026 it was just a comfortable visit. It is worth keeping in mind, but in Gero you can find more elaborate places with city views both in the daytime and in the evening. 10.04.2024 12.03.2026
