Suhaku

Suhaku The ryokan is right on the shore of Lake Suwa. The onsen is on the roof, with an ideal view of the lake and the town. The spring water is iron-rich. The women’s and men’s sides alternate daily. There is a small private bath, but unfortunately it has no view. The ryokan is very progressive, with Dyson hair dryers in the changing rooms, and on the way out everyone can take an ice cream to cool off. They serve a kaiseki dinner and a traditional wa-fu breakfast. The rooms have futons and tatami, and at the entrance you are greeted by an okami in a kimono, bowing deeply. A true Japanese experience. Not cheap, but not expensive either compared with luxury ryokan and hotels. The last time I stayed, it was 20,000 to 30,000 yen per night per person. In my opinion, it is the best way to spend an unforgettable weekend in Suwa.
