About

Ominekan (大峰館) has been running since 1955 in Kamimoku Onsen (上牧温泉), a quiet hot-spring village in Minakami, Gunma. The inn draws water directly from its own spring on the premises and keeps it flowing fresh into the baths without heating or diluting, so what you get in the tub is the spring as it comes up. The water is clear and noticeably soft on the skin. There are both indoor baths and open-air rotenburo (露天風呂), each in separate men's and women's sections. Unusually, the spring holds a drinking permit, and the inn sets out a spot by the entrance where you can sip it straight from the source, plus chilled spring water in the post-bath lounge.
