Yu Terume Tanigawa

Yu Terume Tanigawa (湯テルメ・谷川) was a public bath in the Tanigawa district of Minakami, housed in a building with the feel of a mountain hut. The main draw was a large roofless outdoor bath beside the river: wide, unhurried, and fed directly from the source at a naturally mild temperature that made long soaking easy. In autumn the leaves drifted into the tub; in winter snow piled up around it. Inside, three separate springs each had their own tub. A tatami rest room on the second floor rounded out the simple setup. The facility closed permanently in March 2025.
