A gentle alkaline simple thermal spring at pH 9.1, drawn from the blended flow that the Gero Onsen pumping station distributes to the town's inns. Mineralization is light at 374 mg/kg, so the water asks little of the body, yet the alkalinity gives it the slippery finish that places it squarely in Japan's beauty-water family — helped along by 59.7 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, which leaves a thin silica film and noticeably smoother skin.
