A sodium chloride-bicarbonate spring — salty chloride water layered with a softer bicarbonate finish, classified under the old nomenclature as 'gan-jūsō-shokuen-sen' (salt water with sodium bicarbonate). The wellhead emerges at a cool 33.7 °C (a 'low-temp' classification requiring reheating for bathing), and the water is weakly alkaline and gentle on the skin. With 88.4 mg/kg of metasilicic acid it carries the silica-driven smoothness associated with Japan's 'beauty-water' family, and at 1,124 mg/kg of dissolved solids it offers moderate body without overwhelming mineralization — a balanced urban onsen.

Warming

Salt forms a film on the skin that slows heat loss, so the warmth lingers long after the bath (the classic heat-keeping water, nettō 熱の湯).

Bicarbonate and alkalinity gently lift dead keratin while silica hydrates, leaving skin smooth. This is the basis of the beautifying-water (bijin-no-yu 美人の湯) reputation.
