A simple sulfur spring carrying the unmistakable rotten-egg note of H₂S, weakly acidic and hypotonic. It is unusually rich in metasilicic acid at 173 mg/kg, which leaves a thin silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards. A moderate 264 mg/kg of free CO₂ adds a faint freshness to the feel of the water.

420. Kokichi Hot Spring, Kurokawa Onsen ★ Onsen for 700 yen. Operating hours are from 10:00 to 19:00 (except Wednesdays). Located far from the center of Kurokawa - about a 35-minute walk (between Waraku and Hozantei). Not included in the Kurokawa tegata (pass). There are private baths for 2500 yen (did not use them). Inside, there are two baths with clear water, with white lime deposits on the burdock leaves. One bath is at 42.5°C, the other at 43.5°C. Large wooden beams are very comfortable - you can hang on one side and rest the back of your head on the other. The air inside is excellent to breathe - almost like being outside. A good place, recommended to visit for a deeper immersion in a day trip in the village. 14.01.2025
