A sodium-calcium chloride spring and one of Japan's hottest natural sources at 79.6 °C. Richly mineralized at 10.89 g/kg of dissolved solids, it leaves a salty, heat-retaining mineral film on the skin. A modest 92 mg/kg of metasilicic acid adds a touch of smoothness, and the water sits at a neutral pH.
204. Senoumi, Izu
Visited for day-use bathing, listed hours 14:00 to 20:00. Price 1500 + 300 for a towel set. Staff was very attentive and welcoming, high-level service. According to the website, they have cool in-room baths. They stamp the Shizuoka 60 Onsen book.
1. Inside there are two baths with a bay view. Didn't notice any difference in water between them. Clear water, hot temperature.
2. Outdoor area.
2.1. Round cold water bath.
2.2. Main bath with a bay view. Clear water with occasional fine sand. Temperature slightly below hot.
2.3. On the upper floor, a set of barrels. Water in the barrels is clear, but there's sand on the bottom — when you get in, it stirs up significantly. Large barrel is hot temperature, the other two are hot+.
There's a sauna.
Not bad — worth visiting if you're nearby. But the sand in the barrels was a bit off-putting.
