About

Hotel Dankoen is a big, old-school hot spring hotel in Ito, with two separate indoor baths (Suruga and Sagami) and two outdoor baths (Yanmo and Urara), split by gender rather than mixed. The water is colorless, odorless, and mild on the skin. Day-use bathing runs in the afternoon, so you don't need to be staying the night to use it. Book one of the separate Bettei Kitaoka (別邸きた岡) annex rooms and you get a private tub fed straight from the source, apart from the shared baths in the main building. After a soak there's a free lounge to relax in, plus a kids' play space and, in season, a small outdoor pool. The hotel also runs its own in-house bowling alley, part of the old-school, all-in-one resort character guests still comment on.
