A blend of the Nishizawa-no-Yu wells No. 1, 2 and 3 at Ikaho. It is lightly mineralized — about 292 mg/kg of dissolved solids — and neutral in pH, so the water feels gentle rather than assertive, but it carries 74.8 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, the silica that leaves a thin film on the skin and puts this source in Japan's beauty-water family. At 10.7 °C it is a cold-mineral source: it qualifies as an onsen through its metasilicic acid content rather than through heat. The posted notice lists it for convalescence, fatigue recovery and general health improvement.

Sanyo Hotel draws on Ikaho's Shirogane-no-yu (白銀の湯), a clear, colorless spring that feels soft on the skin, distinct from the rust-colored Kogane-no-yu (黄金の湯) the town is better known for. Bathing is split between a hinoki (cypress) indoor hall called Taki no Oto (滝の音) and a rock-built open-air bath called Kaze no Oto (風の音), plus a jacuzzi tub; between the two, guests find both a cooler soak and a hotter one. Men's and women's sides swap by time of day, and neither bath can be reserved privately. It's an old-style, unpretentious hotel with a Showa-era feel, a shared dining hall, and a karaoke corner. Upper-floor rooms look out toward the Mikuni mountain range.

780. Sanyo Hotel, Ikaho Onsen, Gunma I went for a higaeri for ¥1260. Higaeri is listed from 15:00 to 18:00. 1. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature 42.5. There are two utaseyu. There was a lot of steam, but it was fine to breathe inside. The sauna was not working. 2. Small outdoor bath in stone. The water is clear, temperature 39.5. The strong wind and the active steam rising from the water created a nice effect. 11.01.2026
