About
Kusatsu Onsen SEN is a small, adults-only ryokan (guests must be high-school age or older) built around three private baths: cypress, rock, and a one-person ceramic tub. Each bath locks from the inside, so it's just your group for as long as you want, and all three are half-open-air, so you get a bit of outside air and season while you soak. The water comes straight from the Mandaikou spring (万代鉱源泉) and runs kakenagashi, kept flowing rather than reheated or recirculated. It arrives properly hot, in real Kusatsu style, so guests often stir it (yumomi, 湯もみ) or add a little water before getting in. There are only 15 rooms, done in a quiet Taisho era style, and check-in and check-out are handled without meeting staff face to face, which suits a low-key couple's or solo stay more than a big group trip.
