About

Every room comes with its own set of onsen baths, an open-air rock bath, a cypress (hinoki) bath, and an indoor bath, all fed by natural spring water that's kept flowing fresh. A few rooms still keep an old-style goemon-buro tub for a nostalgic soak. Beyond the rooms there's also a reservable open-air bath, Beni-momiji-no-yu (紅もみじの湯), open by the hour with a view toward Mt Yufu and, at night, a sky full of stars. The ryokan sits on a quiet hilltop above Yufuin and takes small dogs (up to 8kg) in every room. Guests often mention the owner-chef cooking at the table during dinner, and a printed photo handed over as a small parting gift at checkout.
