A gentle simple thermal water, weakly alkaline and soft on the skin, nearly colorless, transparent, tasteless and odorless at the source. It carries a generous 56.7 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, leaving the kind of thin silica film that makes skin feel smoother and placing it in Japan's beauty-water family. Mineralization is light, so the water sits easy on the body.

About

Kamada Kaikan is a small neighborhood bathhouse run by the local Kamada district, one of eight communal baths in Ito each dedicated to one of the Seven Lucky Gods. This one belongs to Fukurokuju, whose stone statue stands by the entrance. Inside there's just one big tub in the middle of the room and a row of shower taps, plus four small family baths you can rent by the half hour. The spring water is kept flowing, and reviewers describe it as clean and properly warming.

238. 鎌田会館, Ito Old-school onsen for 300. They stamp the 60 Onsen of Shizuoka 24/25 booklet. At the reception there was a strict old man who said he didn't care that I was on an onsen rush — he gave me soap and a separate basin and said just rinsing off before the bath wouldn't cut it. Though by the time I was leaving, he had warmed up considerably and was reacting very positively. Based on photos and info online, there should be a small private bath for 900 (didn't take it). The bath has clear water, temperature around 43. It's a bit stuffy inside.
