Ginzan-so is one of the ryokan on the Ginzan River in Ginzan Onsen, with separate indoor and open-air baths for men and women. The open-air bath opens onto the river and the mountains behind it, and the water is soft, gentle sulfur-spring water that also fills the indoor bath next door. A step down from the open-air bath is a reclining pool where you can lie back and look straight up at the sky. The inn also runs a ganbanyoku (岩盤浴), a rock-bed heat room, with three kinds of stone (jade, bakuhanseki, and tourmaline) kept cooler and drier than a typical sauna, so it warms you gradually rather than making you sweat. A few of the newer rooms come with their own bath. Guests describe the building as old-fashioned but clean and comfortable, with river and mountain views from many rooms. Day-use bathing is available.
