Miwa Yugawara opened in winter 2019 in the hills of Yugawara, and every one of its 17 rooms comes with a private open-air bath fed by free-flowing (kakenagashi) spring water. The water runs clear and feels smooth on the skin. Three room types each have a different tub shape, from a round white tub among the trees to an oval bath closer to the sky. The top-floor restaurant looks out over the forested mountains. The building won the iF Design Award in 2021.
