About

Fukiya is a small hotel a few minutes' walk from Gero Station, built around two indoor baths that you reserve for private use rather than share with other guests. The water is piped straight from Gero's hot spring and kept flowing rather than recirculated, plain water that feels smooth and a touch slippery on the skin. The baths are open around the clock, so a soak works whenever you're back at the hotel. Rooms look out over the surrounding mountains and the river below. Downstairs, the restaurant and cafe have stayed open to locals and travelers alike, marking 85 years in business.
