Maruka Ryokan is a small, old-fashioned inn in Yudanaka Onsen with two indoor baths that guests use one party at a time rather than sharing. The spring water is salty and kept flowing fresh from the source, quite hot at times. Guests can also visit the neighborhood's shared public bath using a key from the front desk. The building has real Showa-era character: solid but worn, with narrow, maze-like corridors, and it's run by a family. It suits travelers who want an old-school inn experience over polish and don't mind some age showing.
