Hanayado Baelz

Hanayado Baelz is a small Western-style hotel on a hill above Kusatsu, close to Sai-no-Kawara and a bit further from the Yubatake. The single indoor bath splits into a hot side and a cooler one, so it's easy to ease in, and the water comes straight from Kusatsu's source, kept flowing rather than recirculated. There's no open-air bath, but reviewers note the high ceiling makes the room feel open anyway. It stays open around the clock, and guests who go early or late often have it to themselves. Inside, the building keeps a European look, with a Japanese-Western dinner menu and a small comic corner for downtime.
