About

Itoen Hotel Shima has a large indoor bath and an outdoor bath, both split by gender with the two shifts swapping through the day, plus two reservable private baths, Koizumi-no-yu (小泉の湯) and Yakushi-no-yu (薬師の湯), booked same-day at the front desk on a first-come basis. Two of the room types, a Japanese-modern twin and a 10-mat Japanese room, come with their own open-air bath kept flowing with fresh spring water. The hotel is one outpost of the budget Itoen Hotels chain, set in Shima Onsen (四万温泉), a Gunma hot spring valley whose water has long been said to ease everyday aches. Downstairs there's an all-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink buffet dinner and a free shared karaoke room, the kind of no-frills extras this chain is known for.
