Kiyoshigekan

The ryokan is quite old, but the prices are relatively reasonable. Rooms are clean, futons are soft, and the view from the window is excellent. There are onsen baths and rotenburo available. It's about a 10-minute walk to the city center, and everything is within easy reach. There's a small parking lot, so you can easily drive there. Interestingly, Miyazaki's team stayed at this ryokan when they were working on Spirited Away. I posted the photo with this note above. There were two separate public onsen areas, each with two baths — one indoor and one outdoor. There was also one private rotenburo. The water had a noticeable but not overpowering smell, and overall the skin felt really nice afterward. The only uncomfortable thing was that the water was noticeably hotter than a comfortable level. In the end, you could only sit comfortably in the rotenburo, and even then not for very long.
