Someya Ryokan

A small inn in the Dai Onsen hot spring village near Hanamaki, part of a cluster of traditional bathhouses tucked into the woods above a stream. The water is a sodium sulfate spring with some sulfur, quite hot straight from the tap, guests adjust it themselves. The setting is genuinely secluded and unhurried; the village has a faded, timeless quality that keeps regulars coming back.
