Taketoritei Maruyama is a 30-room ryokan on a hillside above Arima Onsen, one of Japan's oldest hot spring towns. Many rooms have their own private bath built in, indoor or open-air, and guests can also reserve one of eight kashikiri (貸切) baths, four indoor and four open-air, free of charge on a first-come basis. Both of Arima's waters are here: a reddish, iron-rich gold spring and a clear silver spring. Rooms look out over the surrounding hills, and dinner is a kaiseki (会席) course served in a private setting. The ryokan takes overnight guests only, with no day bathing available.
