About

A four-story wooden ryokan built in 1933 in Dai Onsen (台温泉), Hanamaki. The baths sit in the basement: a rock bath and a marble bath, both fed by sulfur spring water running kakenagashi (continuously fresh, not recirculated), with the two sides swapping late in the evening. Guests can also book a free private bath session each evening. The building is listed on the Shin-Nihon Hyaku Meiyu (新日本百名湯), a national register of notable hot spring inns, and the old joinery and heavy timber frame are as much a draw as the water itself.
