Atami Spring No. 353 is a blended sodium-calcium chloride source emerging at 55.2 °C as a hot, hypertonic water. With 19.74 g/kg of dissolved solids it sits squarely in the richly mineralized band — body and heat-retention are noticeable, and a faint mineral film tends to linger on the skin afterwards. Weakly alkaline, so the feel on the skin stays soft despite the strong mineralization.
Hotel New Akao is a large clifftop resort above Atami's coast with three separate onsen baths spread across its two wings. Sparium Nishiki (スパリウムニシキ) is an outdoor bath built infinity-style so the water seems to merge with the sea, with the tubs stepped like a terraced field so bathers aren't looking straight at each other. Saikai (彩海) is an indoor bath at the end of a lantern-lit corridor that smells of hinoki. Namine (波音) sits just five meters from the sea, so you bathe to the sound of the waves. Two smaller baths, Sora (宙) and Tsuki (月), can be booked privately by the hour for a family or a couple. The spring water has a light salty edge, typical this close to the coast. It's an older, Showa-era hotel with a maze-like layout, so getting between rooms and the baths takes some walking, but the sea and city views from the water are what stand out.
232. Hotel New Akao, Atami (pt.1) ★★
A hotel complex with its own grounds, in practice made up of two hotels connected by a passageway. I stayed here overnight in the Ocean Wing building. It is on a hill along the coastline, and as I understand it you can also get up here by ropeway, though I went by car. Day use is listed, but I did not check it, 13:00 to 18:00 for ¥2500, though I was not sure which onsen it applies to, all of them or only certain ones.
I took a small room, but it had tatami and a window with a view of the bay. I did not take meals. There are three sets of onsen in different buildings, and there are also private baths, though I did not use them. The hotels themselves have a ton of stuff, retro arcade games, surfing-themed things, and some other entertainment. In short, you can easily get absorbed in the hotel and keep yourself busy with interesting things.
1. Infinity onsen Sparium Nishiki. The photos online match. About 15 minutes before opening, early in the morning, there were already lots of people of different genders waiting at the entrance.
1.1. The main onsen of the hotel complex, an outdoor infinity onsen with a view of the bay. The bath area is not very large. The view is excellent, no question about it. The water is clear, and the temperature is around 40. If you go in the morning on a sunny day, no joke, you can even bring sunglasses.
1.2. An indoor bath with clear water, around 40 degrees. It is easy to breathe, but there was a slight stale smell from the drain. There is a view from the bath, but when I visited, steam on the glass did not allow for a perfect picture.

2. Namine Onsen. A fairly average onsen.
2.1. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature 39-40, there is a chlorine smell. Easy to breathe.
2.2. Outdoor bath with the same water.
3. Saikai Onsen.
3.1. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature 40. Breathing is normal, but there was very heavy steam on the glass, which in practice blocked the view.
3.2. Outdoor bath with a modest view of the bay. The photo from the internet matches. The water is clear, temperature 40.
The place is not without flaws, but it is interesting enough. I did not have much time there, but everything looked interesting. And you cannot argue with an infinity onsen, if they let you in on a higaeri basis, it is recommended to visit.
