Sulfate

An acidic calcium sulfate-chloride spring fed by steam-generated condensate from Owakudani. At pH 2.1 the water is sharply acidic — strong enough to sting slightly on contact — and carries a faint milky cloudiness with a whiff of hydrogen sulfide. The 60.6 °C source sits squarely in the family of acidic springs long associated with stubborn skin conditions.

Warmth eases stiffness and raises the pain threshold. Radon and sulfate springs show the strongest evidence for joint and muscle pain.

大平台温泉 第3号井戸Ohiradai Onsen Well #3

Simple

An alkaline simple thermal drawn from Ohiradai Onsen Well #3, served at a wellhead temperature of 65 °C. At pH 9.2 the water sits firmly in the alkaline range — slippery on the skin in the classic Japanese 'beauty-water' style — and it's colorless, tasteless and odorless, so the feel comes from the texture rather than any minerality. A gentle, long-soak kind of bath.
