Owakudani Onsen Steam-Generated Blend (Line #2 Sengokuhara, Line #3 Gora)

Mixed source

Sulfate
+ Chloride

An acidic calcium sulfate-chloride spring fed by steam-generated condensate from Owakudani. At pH 2.1 the water is sharply acidic — strong enough to sting slightly on contact — and carries a faint milky cloudiness with a whiff of hydrogen sulfide. The 60.6 °C source sits squarely in the family of acidic springs long associated with stubborn skin conditions.

About

Two separate springs feed the baths here: a sulfurous rotenburo (露天風呂) drawn from the Owakudani (大涌谷) source, and a smooth alkaline indoor bath from a different spring. Most guest rooms have their own private outdoor tub. A private barrel sauna with outdoor cooling area rounds out the facilities. Day visitors can use the communal baths without staying.

174. Shinanoki Ichinoyu, Hakone Located in the northern part of Hakone. Day-use bathing costs 1400 with a towel set + the receipt lets you visit other Ichinoyu locations in Hakone for free that same day. Day-use hours are 13:00 to 20:00. Indoor bath with clear water, no notable smell. Hot+ temperature. Comfortable to breathe inside. Outdoor rectangular bath. Water is slightly cloudy with a very small amount of calcium deposits. Hot+ temperature. Weak view of a fence-wall and treetops. Convenient to stop by with the Ichinoyu pass from a nearby location. Definitely not worth going out of your way for — can be skipped.
