Mixed source

Acidic
+ Chloride · Sulfate

A sodium-calcium chloride-sulfate spring created by blending steam-generated water from Owakudani and Hakone Tozan Railway wells. At pH 2.5 it is strongly acidic, sharp enough to sting slightly on contact and traditionally cited for stubborn skin conditions. The salt-and-sulfate body gives it noticeable mineral weight; the source emerges at a hot 56 °C and is cooled to about 41 °C at the bath.

About

Kiritani Hakoneso draws its water from the Owakudani (大涌谷) spring, and the milky white color is hard to miss. The ryokan has a main building and a smaller annex (Sakura-tei), each with their own bath areas: separate indoor baths for men and women, an outdoor rotenburo whose gender schedule rotates through the day, and a private rental rotenburo that can be reserved in advance. The annex entrance also has a foot bath. Kaiseki meals round out the stay.

180. Kiritani Hakoneso, Hakone Visited for day-use bathing for 1800, towel set provided (listed hours 12:30 to 17:00, last entry at 16:00). The onsen itself is in a separate building from the reception — you walk there after paying (shown in screenshot). Staff couldn't speak English at all. There are two baths — indoor and outdoor. Water in both is milky with white calcium deposits, hot temperature. Good air in the indoor bath. The baths are definitely good. The price and distance from Gora station aren't great though.
