Suizantei Club Jozankei is a small, adults-only (13 and over) ryokan set among trees in the Jozankei onsen area, about 40 minutes from Sapporo. The property draws from three springs it owns under the Toyohira riverbed; the water is mildly salty and smooth on the skin. Guest rooms have their own baths with a direct spring valve, so you can draw the water as it comes up. The shared bathhouse has open-air baths built from Sapporo soft stone and large indoor baths with marble surrounds, plus a sauna. Staying guests can also use the bathhouses at the two sister properties nearby, which include riverside outdoor baths and a forest bathing cottage with no showers, kept dim and old-fashioned by design. Day-use bathing is not offered.
