About

Onsen Yado Hiroshi is a small, old-style ryokan on Yunoshima-dori (湯之島通り), the main onsen street running through central Gero. The bath is a rock-built rotenburo that guests reserve for private use, plus a separate men's and women's indoor rock bath that stays open around the clock. It's filled with real hot-spring water. The inn is an old wooden building with a steep staircase and plain, unfussy Japanese-style rooms; some open onto a view down over the onsen town. Downstairs there's a small dining room known among guests for a Hida beef and hoba-miso (朴葉味噌) set meal. Several neighboring ryokan on the same street have closed in recent years, which makes staying somewhere this old and this plain rarer than it used to be.
