A sodium-led chloride spring with a touch of bicarbonate softness layered in. On the posted composition table sodium dominates the cations while chloride is the leading anion, giving a salty, heat-retaining character. Only the ion-composition portion of the analysis is posted here, with no pH, source temperature, or formal spring-type name shown, so the finer sensory detail cannot be confirmed from this document.

About

Sachinoyu is a plain neighborhood sento in Gero Onsen, one of Japan's three historic hot-spring towns, run for locals as much as for visitors passing through. The indoor hall has a jet bath and a utase-yu (打たせ湯, a bath under a falling stream of water) under a skylight, plus an infrared sauna and a cold plunge, and both the men's and women's sides open onto a small outdoor bath. The water is Gero's usual clear, colorless spring, soft and a little slippery on the skin, the kind that leaves you feeling smooth once you towel off. Nothing here is dressed up: old-style fixed showers at the washing stations, towels and soap sold from a vending machine if you come without your own. A few reviewers call the atmosphere nostalgic rather than polished, which fits a bathhouse that locals still use every day. The family baths that used to run alongside the main hall are currently closed for repairs, with no reopening date announced.

68. Sachinoyu, Gero Onsen One of the three public onsens in Gero. Operating hours are listed differently in different places (one says 12 to 22 except Tuesdays, another says 14 to 21 except Mon-Tue). Tegata is not accepted here. Style-wise it's a sento with onsen water — you even need to bring your own shampoo. Prices in photo. The establishment has the following baths: 1. Main round bath. 2. Round jacuzzi bath. 3. A nice utaseyu (waterfall bath). 4. Cold water bath. 5. Outdoor square bath. Water in the baths is hot, clear. Breathing inside is fine. Overall there's probably little reason to go to this onsen in Gero, unless you're specifically craving a sento atmosphere.
